The muscles of the spine are intricate and plenty. Some are involved in maintaining posture and others are for movement. For the purpose of self treating back pain, soreness, stiffness or tightness we’ll be focusing on; spinalis, logissimus, iliocostalis, multifidus and semispinalis. This group of muscles are known as the Erector Spinae group and they are primarily involved in extension of the spine.
If you are experiencing pain in these areas, especially during deadlifts, good mornings or while sitting or standing they may be asking for a treatment.
